W-2 Contract | Hybrid: 3 Days Onsite | Start ASAP
We are working with a leading insurance agency that is seeking an experienced Compensation & Total Rewards Consultant for a contract assignment through the end of the year.
This is a hands-on compensation project focused on market benchmarking, internal pay review, and total rewards analysis across the U.S. and Canada. You’ll help evaluate salary structures, identify pay equity and compression issues, and build clear compensation guidelines that leaders can actually use.
This is a W-2 contract role, meaning you will be paid as an employee for the duration of the assignment. The company name is confidential at this stage and will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process.
Location
This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite per week. Candidates should be able to work from one of the following office locations:
- New York City, NY
- Chicago, IL
- Boston, MA
- Atlanta, GA
What You’ll Work On
In this role, you’ll lead a compensation and total rewards review focused primarily on actuarial consulting roles across Life, Property & Casualty, and Health practices.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Conducting market benchmarking for salary, bonus, and total rewards
- Identifying appropriate peer groups, survey sources, and market data
- Reviewing internal compensation data across roles, practices, levels, and geographies
- Analyzing pay trends tied to actuarial credentials, exams, years of experience, and specialization
- Developing structured salary ranges and compensation guidelines
- Evaluating pay progression by job family, practice area, experience level, and actuarial credential
- Identifying outliers, compression issues, internal equity concerns, and inconsistencies
- Recommending practical compensation adjustments based on risk, impact, and budget
- Reviewing broader rewards programs, including incentives, benefits, and exam support
- Preparing reports, dashboards, compensation bands, and leadership-ready presentations
What Success Looks Like
By the end of the contract, you will have helped the organization better understand where its compensation program is competitive, where gaps exist, and what changes should be considered.
Your work will support clearer salary guidelines, stronger internal equity, and more consistent compensation decisions across practices, levels, and geographies.
What You’ll Need
- 5+ years of experience in compensation, total rewards, HR analytics, finance, or a related HR role
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, large data sets, modeling, and data analysis
- Experience working with compensation data, market benchmarking, or salary surveys
- Ability to translate complex compensation data into clear, practical recommendations
- Strong PowerPoint and reporting skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work with HR leaders and senior business stakeholders
- Comfort working independently in a project-based contract role
Nice to Have
- Experience with compensation survey data
- Background in insurance, actuarial, consulting, or professional services
- Familiarity with actuarial career paths, exam progression, ASA/FSA credentials, or credential-based pay structures
- Experience building salary bands, dashboards, or compensation guidelines

- Pay rate: Up to $56 per hour
